  • About this Release

The objective of this paper is to provide an evaluation of the quality of Industry Sector data collected in the 2001 Census.

The paper examines the processing and coding procedures used to derive Industry Sector, to assess their impact on the data. It also provides further analyses of the data using other census variables such as Labour Force Status and Industry of Employment as well as other quality indicators such as non-response rates, intercensal changes and comparisons with other data sources. In addition it looks at quality issues with the Community Development and Employment Program data.

The paper concludes with recommendations for possible improvement to processing and coding of Industry Sector for the 2006 Census.
