WINE IMPORTS CLEARED FOR HOME CONSUMPTION

In original terms, 3.9 million litres of wine, valued at $27.3 million were imported in June 2009, an increase of 7.1% in quantity from the previous month. The value of imports was 11.0% higher than May 2009. The average value of wine imports cleared for home consumption in June 2009 was $6.95 per litre up from $6.71 per litre in May 2009.

DISPOSALS OF AUSTRALIAN PRODUCED WINE AND WINE AVAILABLE FOR CONSUMPTION IN AUSTRALIA

The original data for the June quarter 2009 shows that wine available for consumption in Australia has remained steady since the same quarter in 2008. Domestic sales of Australian wine for the June 2009 quarter decreased 0.9% compared with the same quarter last year, and wine imports increased 6.4% over the same period. Total disposals of Australian produced wine in the June quarter 2009 increased by 8.8% on the same quarter in 2008 with exports rising 14.7%.
