MONTHLY SEASONALLY ADJUSTED AND TREND ESTIMATES


NEW SOUTH WALES

There has been weak trend growth in the past two months following five months of moderate growth. Food retailing had weak growth in May 2007 following 11 months of moderate growth. Department stores (three months) and Household good retailing (one month) have had weak growth. Clothing and soft good retailing (two months) and Recreational good retailing (five months) have been in decline.

VICTORIA

The trend was flat for April and May 2007 following three months of weak trend growth. Food retailing had weak growth in May 2007. Household good retailing has had three months of weak trend growth, while Clothing and soft good retailing has had moderate growth for five months. All the remaining industries were in decline in May.

QUEENSLAND

Queensland has had strong trend growth for the last five months. Food retailing (six months) and Hospitality and services (four months) have had strong growth. Household good retailing had moderate growth in May 2007 following 12 months of strong growth. Department stores has been in decline for two months.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA

The trend growth has been moderate for 15 months. Food retailing has had six months of moderate trend growth, while Household good retailing (four months) and Hospitality and services (four months) have had strong growth. Department stores has had weak growth for three months. The other industries have been in decline for at least three months.

WESTERN AUSTRALIA

After 15 months of strong trend growth, April and May 2007 had moderate growth. Clothing and soft good retailing has had five months of strong growth, while Food retailing had moderate growth in May 2007 following seven months of strong growth. Trend growth in Hospitality and services has also slowed with weak growth in May 2007.

TASMANIA

The trend was moderate in May 2007 following two months of strong trend growth. Household good retailing had moderate growth in May following three months of strong growth. Clothing and soft good retailing and Hospitality and services have had two months of moderate growth, while Food retailing has had six months of strong growth.
