MONTHLY SEASONALLY ADJUSTED AND TREND ESTIMATES


NEW SOUTH WALES

There have been four months of weak trend growth. Food retailing has had a decline in the trend estimate for four months. All other industries, except Recreational good retailing which had moderate growth in March 2008, have had at least one month of weak trend growth.

VICTORIA

There have been three months of weak trend growth. Recreational good retailing and Hospitality and services have had a decline in the trend estimate for two months. Clothing and soft good retailing (one month) and Household good retailing (two months) have had no change. Department stores and Other retailing have had at least two months of weak trend growth.

QUEENSLAND

There have been two months of weak trend growth. Clothing and soft good retailing (nine months), Household good retailing (five months) and Hospitality and services (six months) have had a decline in the trend estimate. Food retailing has had six months of moderate trend growth.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA

There have been eight months of strong trend growth. Recreational good retailing (three months) and Other retailing (ten months) have had strong growth. After 13 months of strong growth, the Hospitality and services industry had moderate growth in March 2008. Food retailing (three months), Clothing and soft good retailing (four months) and Household good retailing (three months) have had moderate trend growth.

WESTERN AUSTRALIA

There has been a decline in the trend estimate for four months. Department stores (five months), Clothing and soft good retailing (four months), Household good retailing (11 months) and Hospitality and services (five months) have had a decline in the trend estimate. Food retailing has had four months of weak trend growth.

TASMANIA

There have been four months of weak trend growth. Food retailing has had a decline in the trend estimate for four months. Recreational good retailing had no change in March 2008 after a decline in the trend estimate for nine months. Household good retailing (five months) and Hospitality and services (one month) have had strong trend growth.
