ANALYSIS - TOTAL RETAIL TOTAL RETAIL - QUARTERLY In volume terms, the seasonally adjusted estimate for the June quarter 2011 rose 0.3%, following a rise of 0.2% in the March quarter 2011 and a fall of 0.6% in the December quarter 2010. In the June quarter 2011, the seasonally adjusted estimate rose in volume terms for Other retailing (1.7%), Household goods retailing (1.1%) and Clothing, footwear and personal accessory retailing (0.7%). The seasonally adjusted estimate fell in volume terms for Cafes, restaurants and takeaway food services (-1.2%), Food retailing (-0.2%) and Department stores (-0.8%) in the June quarter 2011. The Implicit Price Deflator for Australian turnover rose 0.3% in seasonally adjusted terms in the June quarter 2011. TOTAL RETAIL - BY STATE The following states and territories rose in trend terms in June 2011: Victoria (0.5%), Queensland (0.5%), Western Australia (0.6%) and the Northern Territory (0.1%). Tasmania (0.0%) was relatively unchanged. New South Wales (-0.4%), South Australia (-0.4%) and the Australian Capital Territory (-0.6%) fell in trend terms in June 2011. The following states and territories fell in seasonally adjusted terms in June 2011: New South Wales (-0.5%), South Australia (-0.8%), Victoria (-0.1%) and the Australian Capital Territory (-0.7%). Tasmania (0.0%) was relatively unchanged. Western Australia (0.5%), Queensland (0.2%) and the Northern Territory (0.6%) rose in seasonally adjusted terms in June 2011. In the June quarter 2011, the seasonally adjusted estimate rose in volume terms for Victoria (2.5%), Western Australia (1.1%) and Queensland (0.5%). The seasonally adjusted estimate fell in volume terms for New South Wales (-1.2%), South Australia (-1.7%), the Australian Capital Territory (-2.6%), Tasmania (-0.6%) and the Northern Territory (-0.1%).
