The chart below shows the trend series and seasonally adjusted series to February 2014.

In current prices, the trend estimate for Australian turnover rose 0.7% in February 2014 following a rise of 0.7% in January 2014 and a rise of 0.7% in December 2013.

The seasonally adjusted estimate for Australian turnover rose 0.2% in February 2014 following a rise of 1.2% in January 2014 and a rise of 0.7% in December 2013.

The original estimate for Australian turnover fell 11.6% in February 2014. The original estimate for chains and other larger retailers fell 13.9% in February 2014. The original estimate for smaller retailers fell 7.2% in February 2014.

TOTAL RETAIL - BY STATE

The following states and territories rose in trend terms in February 2014: New South Wales (1.0%), Victoria (0.7%), Queensland (0.5%), Western Australia (0.2%), Tasmania (0.9%), South Australia (0.3%) and the Northern Territory (0.4%). The Australian Capital Territory (-0.1%) fell in trend terms in February 2014.

The following states and territories rose in seasonally adjusted terms in February 2014: Victoria (0.5%), Western Australia (0.4%), New South Wales (0.1%) and Queensland (0.1%). South Australia was relatively unchanged (0.0%). Tasmania (-1.4%), the Northern Territory (-0.6%) and the Australian Capital Territory (-0.1%) fell in seasonally adjusted terms in February 2014.
