In this update, errors found in data cubes 5 (Internet and computer use by persons with a disability) and 6 (Internet and computer use by older persons) have been corrected. The errors are contained within Table 5 of each data cube and relate to the 2003 data for "Applications for permits, etc" and "Applications or claims for benefits". Corresponding graphs in the commentary have also been amended.

An additional six data cubes have been released, containing the relative standard errors (RSEs) of the estimates published on 15 December 2011.


16/12/2011 - Two figures in the commentary from the original release were incorrect. The correct figures are as follows:

The percentage of Australian households with access to the internet at home was 64% in 2006-07.

The proportion of people aged 15 and over who accessed the internet at home for Paying bills online or online banking was 64% in 2010-11.

Also, an additional category (Downloading videos, movies or music) has been added to the graph for 'Personal internet use at home, by activity, 2010-11'.

None of the data cubes were affected by these errors.

The Summary Indicators data cube has been amended to correct errors in the following tables:

  • Table 1. Households with home internet access, by selected characteristics - 2005-06 to 2010-11
  • Table 3. Households with access to a computer at home, by selected characteristics - 2005-06 to 2010-11

In both tables the errors related to the 2008-09 data for households 'with children under 15' and households 'without children under 15'.
