WHEAT GRAIN COMMITTED

In May 2010, wheat grain committed for domestic use or export increased to 5.1 million tonnes. Of the total wheat grain committed, 4.0 million tonnes was contracted for export while wheat grain committed for domestic use fell to 1.1 million tonnes.

All states reported increased export commitments from April 2010, with Victoria (up by 178 thousand tonnes) and New South Wales (up by 159 thousand tonnes) showing the largest movements.

Compared to May 2009, wheat grain committed for export increased by 13%, while wheat grain committed for domestic use increased by 27% in
May 2010.
