WHEAT GRAIN COMMITTED

In June 2011, wheat grain committed for domestic use or export fell to 5.0 million tonnes, a 6% decrease from May 2011, but an increase of 3% from June 2010.

Of the total wheat grain committed, 4.0 million tonnes were contracted for export. In June 2011, all states reported decreased export commitments from May 2011, with the exception of New South Wales and Victoria which reported slight increases, up by 3 thousand tonnes and 67 thousand tonnes respectively. South Australia had the highest total commitments with 1.3 million tonnes, and Western Australia next, with 947 thousand tonnes.

Compared to May 2011, wheat grain committed for domestic use decreased by 18% to 1.0 million tonnes in June 2011. This compares to a total of 983 thousand tonnes in June 2010.
