LIVESTOCK SLAUGHTERED TREND


CATTLE (EXCLUDING CALVES)

Graph: Cattle (excluding calves)

The number of cattle (excluding calves) slaughtered in the September quarter 2009, decreased 1% to 2.0 million, compared to the September quarter 2008.


CALVES
Graph: Calves

The number of calves slaughtered in the September quarter 2009 decreased 3% to 196 thousand, compared to the September quarter 2008.


SHEEP AND LAMBS
Graph: Sheep and Lambs

In the September quarter 2009, the number of sheep slaughtered fell 17% to 2.5 million, compared to the same period in 2008, while lamb slaughterings increased 5% to 5.3 million.


PIGS
Graph: Pigs

Pig slaughterings in the September quarter 2009 decreased 3% to 1.1 million, compared to the same quarter of the previous year.


CHICKENS
Graph: Chickens Slaughtered

Chicken slaughterings in the September quarter 2009 increased by less than 1% to 116.6 million, compared to the September quarter in 2008.
