CHANGE TO THE COMPOSITION OF THE EURO AREA CATEGORY

From this issue, the composition of the Euro area category published in time series spreadsheet Table 2 will be updated to include Estonia. The new composition will apply to the whole time series.


NEW PREFERENCE SCHEME CODE AND AMENDMENTS TO LABELS

From this issue a new preference scheme code for the Malaysia Australia Free Trade Agreement (MAFTA) has been introduced for imports of merchandise trade data.

M Goods which meet Malaysia Australia FTA rules of origin & preferential rate of duty has been claimed



The labels for several existing preference codes will be changed to clarify them:

R Goods manufactured in Singapore but do not meet SAFTA rules of origin receive a Developing Country ( The Developing Country preferential rate of duty has been claimed - DCT (Schedule 1, Part 5)


This change does not impact on statistics in this publication.


CHANGES IN FORTHCOMING ISSUES

AMENDMENT TO SCHEDULE 4 OF CUSTOMS TARIFF

The Australian Customs and Border Protection Service will be introducing significant amendments to Schedule 4 of the Customs Tariff Act. The changes will apply from 1 March 2013. More detail is available in Australian Customs Notice 2012/55.

The ABS will be publishing information on impacts to statistical data in Information Paper: Amendments to Schedule 4 of Customs Tariff (cat. no. 5368.0.55.019) to be released on 19 March 2013.
