FUNDING PER PERSON

Cultural funding provided by all levels of government was $300.56 per person in 2009-10. The amount of funding provided per person is calculated by dividing the amount of funding by the number of people in the relevant population. The Australian Government per person contribution to cultural funding was $110.92 while the state and territory governments' contribution was $135.58 per person. Local government cultural funding was $54.07 per person.

The two territories had the highest total of state and territory government cultural funding per person in 2009-10, with $391.89 per person in the Northern Territory and $268.41 per person in the Australian Capital Territory. Western Australia had the third highest per person funding, at $220.70.
