The Basic Community Profile (BCP) is the primary profile. It consists of 46 tables containing key Census characteristics on persons, families and dwellings. The data are based on place of usual residence. The BCP will be released in three phases. First release tables are those containing classifications which are relatively easy to process. These tables were released earlier this year. Second release tables contain Labour Force classifications which require more complex processing and will be available on November 20 in the third release scheduled for March 3 2013; the final geography area for Remoteness will also be available. The full release schedule is available on the ABS website. Census of Population and Housing: Time Series Profile, 2011 First Release (cat no. 2003.0) The Community Profile Series contains six separate profiles aimed at providing information on key Census characteristics relating to persons, families and dwellings and covering most topics on the Census form. The profiles are excellent tools for researching, planning and analysing small and large geographic areas. They enable comparisons to be made between different geographic areas. The profiles which will be available for the 2011 Census will be: Basic Community Profile (BCP); Place of Enumeration Profile (PEP); Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples (Indigenous) Profile (IP); Time Series Profile (TSP); Expanded Community Profile (XCP); and the Working Population Profile (WPP). The Time Series Profile (TSP) consists of 34 tables containing key Census characteristics of persons, families and dwellings. TSP will be released in two phases. First release tables are those tables containing classifications which are easy to process and are already available. Second release tables contain Labour Force classifications which require more complex processing and will be available on October 30. QuickStats, 2011 First Release (cat no. 2061.0) The product provides summary information about people, families and dwellings in an area. Tables, graphs and narratives present the information in a way that is easily viewed and printed. It is an ideal product for students, small businesses and community groups needing general statistics for an area. If you are interested in information that is more detailed about your area, a link is also provided to the Community Profile Series. Reflecting a Nation: Stories from the 2011 Census, 2012–2013 (cat no. 2071.0) This publication presents commentary and statistical analysis using data from the 2011 Census. Articles using 2011 Census data are being released progressively from June 2012. Analysis will be included on the following broad areas of interest: population; cultural diversity; living arrangements; community; education; work; and housing. Commentary will include a focus on the strengths of the population census, in relation to providing information on small population groups and small geographic areas. The publication also features several historical articles, focussing on the 100 years of Census, from 1911 to 2011. In addition, two articles will be included in this issue that look at: 'Cultural Diversity in Australia' and '100 years of Australian Lives - Population'. Census of Population and Housing: Basic Community Profile DataPack, 2011 First Release (cat no. 2069.0.30.001) Census of Population and Housing: Time Series Profile Datapack, 2011 First Release (cat no. 2069.0.30.003) Census of Population and Housing: Place of Enumeration Profile DataPack, 2011 First Release (cat no. 2069.0.30.004) Census of Population and Housing: Expanded Community Profile DataPack, 2011 First Release (cat no. 2069.0.30.005) These DataPacks contain 2011 Census data for numerous areas within the one package. The data is in CSV format. The DataPacks also include digital boundary map files and metadata/referencing information. DataPacks do not include software. DataPacks are designed for people to use with database or analysis systems (e.g. SQL, GIS and other mapping or tabulation software) and who want Community Profile data for numerous geographies. DataPacks require each user to register and are available for downloading directly from the Census web site. Register and access online DataPacks. The second release for these products is scheduled for November 20. Information Paper: 2011 Census Special Enumeration Strategies, 2011 (cat no. 2911.0.55.004) During the 2011 Census of Population and Housing, special strategies were employed to assist in the enumeration of some population groups. This publication documents special enumeration strategies such as those used for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population, people experiencing homelessness and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. 2011 TableBuilder Basic, 2011 First Release (cat no. 2072.0) This product allows you to build your own tables of data from a range of 2011 Census classifications. You can also view and export the data in a variety of graphs and maps. You can access 2011 Census data for most topics including age, education, housing, income, transport, religion, ethnicity, occupation (note that the second release is scheduled for October 30) and more, from a single Statistical Area Level 1 (SA1) to all of Australia. It also has more sophisticated features that allow you to create your own recodes and custom geographies and share these with other people. Demography Australian Demographic Statistics, Mar 2012 (cat no. 3101.0) This publication provides quarterly estimates of total population for states, territories and Australia. Includes: the most recent estimates of the population in five-year age groups; numbers (and some rates) of births, deaths and infant deaths; interstate and overseas movements; and quarterly and/or annual time series tables. Also includes: projected resident populations; projected population in households; projected number of households; and projected average household size for states, territories and Australia. Migration, Australia, 2010-11 (cat no. 3412.0) This publication brings together statistics on international migration into and out of Australia, interstate migration within Australia and information on overseas-born residents of Australia. Australia's migration is described in the context of the Government's migration program and in comparison with international migration experienced by other countries. Overseas Arrivals and Departures, Australia, Aug 2012 (cat no. 3401.0) This publication comprises a summary of monthly data by category of movement. For visitors arriving and residents departing short term, the intended length of stay, main purpose of journey, principal destination (departures) or country of usual residence (arrivals) and state and territory in which most time was spent are also available. For settler arrivals, region of birth is also available. Australian Social Trends, Sep 2012 (cat no. 4102.0) Released quarterly, Australian Social Trends presents analysis and commentary on a wide range of social issues. The September 2012 release contains three articles: Household energy use and costs; Education differences between men and women; and the right person for the job: the relevance of qualifications to employment. The release also includes national and state level datacubes (in the form of Excel spreadsheets) providing time series information on selected items covering the topics of population; health; and international comparisons. Migrants Migrant Data Matrices, 2012 (cat no. 3415.0) This product presents a series of matrices that link to ABS summary data on migrants. Where available, this will include a broad selection of demographic, geographic, socio-economic and collection specific data items. The statistical coverage includes topics such as Population Characteristics, Labour (Employment), Family and Community, Health, Education and Training, Housing, Personal and Household Finances, Culture and Leisure and Crime and Justice. The matrices also include a link to a glossary of migrant related terms and, for each selected ABS product, links to their main features and to detailed information on the source collection. Perspectives on Migrants, 2012 (cat no. 3416.0) This article uses the ABS 2010 General Social Survey (GSS) to analyse several characteristics of social and community connectedness of two migrant arrival groups - those arriving before 2006 and those arriving between 2006 and 2010. It explores the types of social activities migrants engaged in and with who, frequency of engagements, types of social organisations participated in, as well as their general levels of life satisfaction and trust. The article aims to analyse ‘life outcomes‘ variables collected in the 2010 GSS to similar variables that formed part of the Settlement Outcomes of Newly Arrived migrants survey (SoNA) that was independently commissioned by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship. Statistical Standards Country of Birth Standard, 2012, Version 1.0 (cat no. 1200.0.55.004) The Country of Birth standard identifies the country in which a person or the person's father and/or mother were born. Country of Birth may be used with a range of other variables to measure the ethnic and cultural composition of the Australian population. The variables provide a means for standardising the way Country of Birth data are collected and disseminated. Language Standards, 2012, Version 1.1 (cat no. 1200.0.55.005) The language standard variables are used within and outside the ABS to measure language diversity and usage in Australia. They include the variables; First Language Spoken, Language Spoken at Home, Main Language Other than English Spoken at Home, and Main Language Spoken at Home. These variables provide a means for standardising the way language data are collected and disseminated. Religious Affiliation Standard, 2012, Version 1.1 (cat no. 1200.0.55.003) Religious Affiliation identifies the religious beliefs and practices to which a person adheres, or the religious group to which they belong. Religious Affiliation is used to assess the religious composition of the Australian population. It can be used by ABS collections and other agencies that collect and/or disseminate data for statistical and administrative purposes. Microdata Microdata: Characteristics of Recent Migrants, Australia, Nov 2010 (cat no. 6250.0.25.002) This product provides a range of information about the release of microdata from the Characteristics of Recent Migrants Survey, Australia, November 2010 including details about the survey methodology, and how to use the CURF and the Survey TableBuilder. Data item lists and information on the conditions of use and the quality of the microdata as well as the definitions used are also provided. Microdata: Education and Work, Australia, May 2011 (cat no. 6227.0.30.001) This product provides a range of information about the release of microdata from the Survey of Education and Work, Australia, May 2011 including details about the survey methodology, and how to use the CURF and the Survey TableBuilder. Data item lists and information on the conditions of use and the quality of the microdata as well as the definitions used are also provided.
