MIGRANT DATA MATRICES

The third edition of the Migrant Data Matrices (cat. no 3415.0) is due for release on 29 June 2011. The Matrices provide an easier and quicker method of finding ABS migrant and ethnicity related data and include data cubes and links to data on migrants from a range of ABS collections on a broad selection of topics.

The data items that are included are not exhaustive, but rather provide statistical coverage from a selection of topics such as:

  • Population Characteristics
  • Labour (Employment)
  • Family and Community
  • Health
  • Education and Training
  • Housing
  • Personal and Household Finances
  • Culture and Leisure
  • Crime and Justice

A datacube is provided which includes a matrix showing the migrant data items available from each collection. The Matrices also include a link to a Glossary of migrant related terms and, for each ABS product selected, a link to their main features and to detailed information on the source collection.

Care must be taken in comparing data from different collections presented in the Matrices due to differences in survey methodology, definitions and reference periods. There will be a second release of the Matrices in November 2011.
