CDATA96...A Wealth of Information

FINAL RELEASE AVAILABLE
Most businesses and organisations today face challenges from ever tightening budgets, reduced resources and difficult deadlines. Using CDATA96 can help to lift your organisation's performance to meet these challenges.

Regardless of what business you are in, you need current and accurate information to make decisions about the development and delivery of the right products and services to the right people. For example, the retailer who needs to identify potential customers within an age group and income range, the town planner who needs to know the mix of rented/owned dwellings and their impact on recreational and transport facilities, the insurance company that wants to identify home loan markets and their respective insurance markets, can all benefit from using CDATA96.

CDATA96 provides census data for all of Australia, from approximately 225 households to an entire State or Territory. Depending on your requirements, you can select data and geographic areas and view the results as:

    • Tables
    • Maps or
    • Graphs
The CDATA96 Final Release package, using the most up-to-date information collected from the 1996 Census, provides you with:
    • 1996 Basic Community Profile;
    • Time Series Profile for 1996, 1991 and 1986 Censuses based on 1996 boundaries;
    • 1996 Census Digital Boundaries of all standard ASGC geography and Census-specific boundaries such as suburbs and postal areas;
    • 1996 Digital Basic Base Map Data, and
    • Optional Detailed Base Map Data.
Combining 1996 Census data with MapInfo Professional software, CDATA96 makes desktop demographic research easier than ever.

Base Map Data is an essential component of CDATA96. The Base Map allows you to overlay features, which are major roads, rivers and railway lines on top of the information you've retrieved - making the information even more relevant to your area of interest.

CDATA96 can be a valuable tool in sales force management, in determining and checking marketing plans, promotional and advertising campaigns, analysing distribution decisions, and gaining a better understanding of your target market.

If you or a group of your colleagues are interested in viewing a CDATA96 demonstration or receiving a free demonstration disk then please contact your local State or Territory ABS office for more details.

WITH DETAILED BASE MAP DATA

Detailed Base Map data is available as an Add-On to CDATA96. This data enables you to overlay features such as streets, post offices, hospitals, waterways, police stations, churches, schools and more onto maps generated with CDATA96.

Finding a specific location such as the intersection of two streets is now a simple search task with Detailed Base Map data. Once you have located the point of interest, you can use CDATA96 to perform a demographic analysis of a surrounding area.

You can also attach detailed labels to your maps which can include town or suburb names. This will make your maps far more user friendly and meaningful.

Please note the Basic or Detailed Base Map contained on CDATA96 is copyright to the Public Sector Mapping Agencies. It is the most authoritative large-scale digital map of Australia. However, the ABS does not guarantee the coverage or completeness of any specific features.
