CONSUMER PRICE INDEX Change from previous quarter In the June quarter 2009 the All Groups CPI rose by 0.6% for Canberra, and 0.5% nationally (weighted average of eight capital cities). The most significant fall occurred for Financial and insurance services, down 1.5% in Canberra and 1.7% nationally. The most significant price rise occurred in Household contents and services, up 2.6% in Canberra and Health up 2.3% nationally. The largest contributor to the increase of 0.6% in the CPI for Canberra in June quarter 2009 was Household contents and services (2.6%). Within the Household contents and services group, the key driver of the increase was the price for Towels and linen, which rose by 17.2% in the quarter.
