Building Approvals Dwelling Units Approved, State Trends Main Features About this Release History of Changes Continued strength in dwelling approvals (Media Release)	BUILDING APPROVALS NUMBER OF DWELLING UNITS The trend estimate for Australia rose 0.6% in August. In seasonally adjusted terms the estimate fell 1.8% to 20,788 dwellings. NUMBER OF PRIVATE SECTOR HOUSES The trend estimate for private sector houses approved fell 1.0% in August. In seasonally adjusted terms the estimate fell 1.3% to 9,305 houses. NUMBER OF PRIVATE SECTOR DWELLINGS EXCLUDING HOUSES The trend estimate for private sector dwelling units excluding houses rose 2.0% in August. In seasonally adjusted terms the estimate fell 3.6% to 11,073 dwellings. VALUE OF NEW RESIDENTIAL BUILDING The trend estimate for the value of new residential building approved rose 1.0% in August and has risen for nine months. VALUE OF ALTERATIONS AND ADDITIONS TO RESIDENTIAL BUILDING The trend estimate for the value of alterations and additions to residential building fell 1.9% in August and has fallen for four months. VALUE OF NON-RESIDENTIAL BUILDING The trend estimate for the value of non-residential building approved fell 1.8% in August and has fallen for two months.
