SURVEY DESIGN AND OPERATION

This chapter provides information about the design and operation of the 2012-13 National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Survey (NATSIHS) and the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Nutrition and Physical Activity Survey (NATSINPAS) including the following:

  • scope
  • sample design and selection
  • data collection
  • measures taken to maximise response
  • response rates
  • coding and edit checks
  • weighting, benchmarking and estimation.

This chapter also provides general information on the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Measures Survey (NATSIHMS) (referred to as the Biomedical component) and the combined NATSIHS/NATSINPAS sample file (also known as the Core).
