In 2006-07, Tasmanian farmers produced 27% (66,400 tonnes) of Australia's total onion crop (246,500 tonnes). In 2006-07, 62% of all onions produced in Tasmania came from the Mersey-Lyell Statistical Division (41,000 tonnes).

In 2006-07, Tasmanian farmers produced 302,000 tonnes of potatoes. Fifty-nine percent of all potatoes produced in Tasmania came from the Mersey-Lyell Statistical Division (179,000 tonnes).
