ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

The 2011 Indigenous Mortality Project was funded by the Council of Australian Governments (COAG). The project enables reporting against the COAG target “to close the life expectancy gap within a generation”. The ABS acknowledges the provision of Death Registration data from State and Territory Registries of Births, Deaths and Marriages, and ongoing efforts to improve Aboriginal and Torres Strait identification within death registrations. The ABS also acknowledges the provision of data from all Australians, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, as part of the 2011 Census of Population and Housing.

We thank the members of the ABS Advisory Group on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Statistics (AGATSIS) and the ABS Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Demographic Statistics Expert Advisory Group (ATSIDSEAG) for their input and guidance.
