Barley and wheat are the main cereal crops grown in Western Australia. In 2006-07, wheat production was 5.1 million tonnes. Over 52% of all wheat produced in Western Australia in 2006-07 came from the Midlands Statistical Division.

In 2006-07, Western Australian farmers produced 1.8 million tonnes of barley. In 2006-07, over 57% of all barley produced in Western Australia came from the Midlands and Upper Great Southern Statistical Divisions.
